Sawa Sudan, in partnership with IOM, empowers women in Blue Nile State to lead peacebuilding and community resilience programs, transforming their role from observers to active drivers of sustainable peace, July 2025

Women at the Heart of Peacebuilding

_

Since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the inclusion of women in peacebuilding and conflict prevention has become a humanitarian duty and a cornerstone of lasting peace. At Sawa Sudan, and through our strategic partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM – UN Migration), we have transformed this commitment into tangible action on the ground.

In August 2025, our field initiatives in Blue Nile State focused on empowering women within community committees, enabling them to influence local conflict resolution, critical decision-making, and planning for the future of their communities.

Our programs strengthen social cohesion and foster community dialogue, building bridges of trust and respect among diverse societal groups. Women in Sudan are not merely victims of conflict; they are peacebuilders and essential partners in shaping the future.

Together… we plant the seeds of peace carried by the hands of women.
